Every February for many years I've been putting out a new chapter in the Fiyah Fi Bun Dem Series. The Final Flava Friday at Fever Night Club

I started DJing at Fever on Fridays over 6 years ago alongside Rexx for Flava Fridays. After a lil while i left to do Get Up Get Down but returned 4 years later to pick up where we left off. As more and more clubs lean towards straight pop anthems and top 40 Dance Hits, Flava Fridays kept it gully with a straight Hip Hop and Dancehall vibe. Unfortunately, in 2 weeks, Fever will close it's doors forever and renovations will take place to transform it into Status Night Club which will feature mainly House music. Although the last Flava Friday EVER is February 10th, I won't be there so this Friday Feb 3rd come thru as DJ Physik and I tear it down one last time. Look for brand new BIG TINGS come March.

FREE UP WEDNESDAYS Relaunches at REPUBLIC - Feb 1st, 2012

After 4 years of doing FREE UP WEDNESDAYS at Shine Night Club, the last FREE UP at Shine went down January 11th. A few different reasons factored in to us moving the night but we'd like to say thank you very much to the owners and staff at Shine who always made the club feel like home. We are sad to go but things change and we are happy to have a new residency at REPUBLIC!

Starting Wednesday, February 1st, and every Wednesday after that, FREE UP will be relaunching at Republic on the patio. The whole crew is back including DJ's Rexx, Hoppa, Chizzle and myself, Arems. Always dropping the best Dancehall, Soca and Reggae, you can expect a lot of special events and guests! February alone sees the grand opening party, followed by the Fiyah Fi Bun Dem Part 6 CD Release plus two guest appearances from local and over seas DJs! Republic also has some of the best drink specials on Wednesdays including $4 Heinekens. An added bonus is the main room at Republic features old school hip hop by DJ C-Stylez and special guests for Down By Law.

DJ Arems guest spot w/ Blessed Coast Sound at Wild Out Wednesdays in Bellingham

As most of you know by now, FREE UP is on a two week Hiatus before we RELAUNCH at Republic on Wednesday Feb 1st. More details about that to come. For now, roll through Bellingham tonight (Jan 25, 2012) to catch Arems with Blessed Coast Sound for the dopest dancehall night south of the boarder on a wednesday! This Friday we are getting into full holiday mode at Chrystie 141. Dj Tanner will be headlining this party and gets started around 12:30 however there will be plenty to do before hand. Sports illustrated Super model Jessica White is hosting and we have open bar from 10:30-11:30.

Faction Sound Crew 10 Year Anniversary Mix CD ft Iron Lyon, Arems & Tanner

10 years of Faction Sound Crew has been pretty ill. Back in 2001, DJs Arems, Tanner and Akshun broke off from a wider collective they had been djing with and formed the Faction Sound Crew. Ever since then, things have been getting bigger and better. From touring the world to doing multiple residencies in Vancouver, Whistler and now New York and Miami... the Faction has been locking things down - but there's far more to come. The addition of our MC, Matt the Trigga, back in 2006 brought a new edge to the crew's group performances and in 2009 another crew member was added - New York's Iron Lyon, for even more fire power.

We all grew up and started djing with RAP music, therefore, it's only fitting that Iron Lyon sets off the Faction's 10 Year Anniversary Mix CD with a throw back to the golden era, laced with a few faction Rap Dubplates, and even a track from Iron Lyon himself.

Arems comes with the all Dubplate section consisting of mainly dancehall dubs remixed over current and golden era hip hop beats. More RAP dubplates can be found in his section which show cases a lot of his favourite artists from the past and present.

Tanner shuts shit down with a Moombahton finale that will have any fan of music in general nodding their head to the pounding beats and smoothed out remixes of familiar songs now transformed into the new Moombahton genre.

Two DOPE events go down this Friday December 16th starting with Day 4 of the Redbull Thee Style Finals at Club 560. 5 of the 18 World Finalists will be battling it out to make it to Saturday night for the Final Finale. The real highlight of the Day 4 is PETE ROCK vs DJ Premier with DJ Dopey and the Faction Sound Crew!!! DJ Tanner has returned from NYC especially for this event and we will be dropping some exclusive shit! I could go on and on about this but the reality is - it sold out so if you don't have a ticket - I feel sorry for you.

BUT, you can still come RAP! at Calabash (428 Carrall Street in Gastown) where we'll be heading as soon as finish our set inside 560 to play Golden Era Hip Hop and the best RAP around. DJ Tanner Returns to Vancouver for Jo Rich Thursdays at Joseph Richards Thurs Dec 15

DJ Tanner returns from NYC to destroy a few spots in Vancouver before leaving on Saturday once again. Make sure you catch him at his first stop inside Joseph Richards for Jo Rich Thursdays as he joins residents DJ Physik, Stimulant J and Hoopsta for what will be a PAKD and insane night. DJ Arems on EVR w/ Max Glaxer for the Federation Invasion (Video and Streaming Link)

As a final update on my East Coast Mini Tour to Toronto and New York, we wanted to show you some video and provide you with the audio from the Faction's guest set for the Federation Invasion Nov 9th on East Village Radio.

East Village Radio was first established in June 2003, and originally broadcast on the airwaves at 88.1 FM as a pirate radio station. After an article in The New York Times described the station, the FCC sent a cease-and-desist letter (being that the station was unlicensed). Due to the difficulty of obtaining new FM licenses, even LPFM licenses, in a large metropolis such as NYC, the decision was made to make EVR an internet radio station.

Every Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm you can tune into http://EVR.com (@EVRadio) to hear Max Glazer and DJ Autograph dropping the newest dancehall and reggae with tons of exclusives and guests rolling through. We were lucky enough to be asked to do a 30 minute all dubplate set which you can listen to streaming below and catch the highlights in the video.
